PET IDOL 2008

SmileSAMSON WINS OUR THIRD ANNUAL PET IDOL CONTEST.

The 2008 version of our popular Pet Idol Contest is now in the history book. A total of 50 animals competed for the coveted title of Adair County Pet Idol 2008.

Samson, a brown tabby cat with white markings belonging to Amanda Kelter and Peggy Lawson emerged as our overall winner. Samson serves as full time greeter and lap warmer at House of Styles a beauty salon here in Columbia owned by Peggy Lawson. Samson is the first cat to win our contest.

The contest raised a total of $2429.75 for the shelter this year. Samson raised over $800.00 himself!

The money will be used to erect a 30' x 30' fenced play area for potential adopters to go one on one with  dogs or pups at the shelter without the restrictions of a leash. Hopefully this will result in more adoptions!

Our Pet Idol contest has raised over $20,000.00 in just three years. All of this money was used for upgrades and additions at the shelter.  We doubled the capacity of our puppy room and added a large roofed outdoor area with pens for our pups for day use with proceeds from our previous contests. All of this was accomplished without spending taxpayer dollars. Thanks to everyone who participated in any of our contests. All donations are put to good use!
