The two local animal welfare leagues (Green River Animal Welfare League and Lake Cumberland Animal Welfare League) have combined forces to provide a much needed assistance to our adoption program at the shelter.

Thanks to their efforts animals being adopted from the shelter by residents of the three counties we serve (Adair, Metcalfe & Russell) will be spayed or neutered for free!

When residents of our service counties adopt an animal from the shelter they will be provided with a form to return to Green River Animal Welfare League. They wll then receive a certificate to pay for the spay neuter of the animal they adopted. This certificate is good at vets in each of the 3 counties and is only valid for animals being adopted from the Green River Animal Shelter.

Hopefully this will have a long term impact on the number of animals entering the shelter as unwanted kittens and puppies will decline.
